I recently caved into the hype around the X100 Series — specifically, the X100V. I did some really long photowalks with it and it’s fantastic. For me, the stealth capacities are impeccable. The compact design and quiet shutter let me blend into the scene, which is exactly what I want when I'm out shooting candid moments. It doesn’t scream “photographer,” and that often makes all the difference in how people react — or rather, don’t react — when I raise it to my eye.
Beyond that, the fixed 23mm f/2 lens (35mm full-frame equivalent) feels natural. It forces me to move with intention, to think more about composition. The image quality is more than enough for my needs, and I’ve even used the JPEGs straight out of the camera thanks to Fujifilm’s film simulations. It’s a camera that gets out of the way and lets me focus on seeing.
These days, it’s become my go-to for EDC and street photography. It’s light, discreet, and always ready — whether I’m out with a purpose or just happen to stumble on a great moment.
